These are the birds that made Wild Wings what it is today
Squirt THIS LITTLE GAL STARTED IT ALL. Brought in naked, eyes closed, ice cold, and stiff, Squirt had a pretty poor prognosis. But our director felt she HAD to try. Amazingly, After a night of intensive care she rallied and ended up being released.
Indigo BROUGHT IN WITH HIS 2 SISTERS AS A NAKED BABY, IT WAS SOON APPARENT THAT HE WAS MR. PERSONALITY. WHEN RELEASED HE STUCK AROUND, FOUND A MATE AND HAS RAISED SEVERAL CLUTCHES IN A TREE ON OUR PROPERTY. HE EVEN FEEDS NEWLY RELEASED BABY BIRDS FROM TIME TO TIME.
Ouija THIS SWEET GIRL WAS BROUGHT IN WITH SEVERAL PELLET GUN WOUNDS, A BADLY BROKEN WING AND A DAMAGED EYE. OUIJa WASNT EXPECTED TO LIVE. HOWEVER SHE WAS A FIGHTER. SADLY SHE was NOT RELEASEABLE AND lived in a sanctuary until her passing summer of 2017.
Popple came to us as an egg. One we did not expect to hatch, but it did. Soon after hatching we noticed that Popple had several birth defects. Despite all of this he was friendly and happy. He was a fighter. After his general health stabilized, It was decided we would have his leg surgically corrected. Our hope was to give him the best shot at life. The surgery was a success and Popple now lives with several other rescued pigeons in a small local sanctuary.
Cece came to us as a hatchling in 2015. Unfortunately for her she was fed the wrong things by her finder because he didn't know any better. This bad diet caused her feet and legs to curl upward, small stature and feather deformities which rendered her flightless. She was a goofball and had a mighty grackle personality. She needed prolonged care and at the age of 8 months was sent to live in a sanctuary in Florida, where we hear that she keeps her caretakers on their toes.
